St Albans: A History

I have written a history of St Albans for Carnegie Publishing's City and Town Histories series. This has now been published. Click here or on the pictures for further information about this book.

St Albans has a remarkably varied history, starting in pre-Roman times and embracing a significant Roman presence, medieval monasticism, nineteenth-century electoral corruption and extended suburban development in the twentieth century.

This history of St Albans is fully illustrated, and covers 2,000 years of history.
